April 4, 2013 – Fundraising Event
FACT hosted its first, large-scale fundraising event on April 4, 2013 at Top of the Town in Arlington, VA. Thanks to our supporters, FACT raised over $28,000 to support family violence prevention, treatment, and public awareness efforts statewide.
Changing Our View of Sexual Violence: A Community Response to Prevention
In the spring of 2012, FACT partnered with the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance on a series of collaborative trainings and regional community conversations entitled: Changing Our View of Sexual Violence: A Community Response to Prevention. With approximately 300 service providers involved, The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance provided training based on “Guidelines for the Primary Prevention of Sexual Violence and Intimate Partner Violence,” and FACT and VDH highlighted best practices and current trends in primary prevention. In addition, FACT facilitated community conversations that assisted stakeholders in developing comprehensive prevention strategies that promote protective factors and collaboratively prevent sexual violence in local communities.
