Family and Children’s Trust Fund of Virginia Welcomes Board Appointees

Richmond, Va. – The Family and Children’s Trust Fund of Virginia is proud to announce five appointees to the Board of Trustees and recognize the continuing service of two dedicated members. These leaders bring diverse experience, a passion for community and strategic insight to help guide FACT’s mission to prevent and treat family violence.  

  • Joseph Van Name, CFP®, AIFA®, was appointed by Virginia Governor Youngkin and is president and owner of Advisors Financial Inc., where he has led the firm’s growth and client services for more than two decades. Recognized as a Top Financial Adviser by Washingtonian and Northern Virginia Magazine, he brings deep expertise in financial planning and fiduciary oversight. Van Name also serves in leadership roles with nonprofit and fraternal organizations, guiding charitable assets that support seniors, students and families in need.
  • Nichele Carver was appointed by Virginia House Speaker Don Scott and is the principal at NJC Strategic Planning and Consulting LLC. She has a deep commitment to equity and systems transformation and brings nearly 30 years of experience in the homeless services field at both the state and national levels including serving as the co-chair of the Council of State Community Development Agencies’ National Homeless Committee. Prior to her appointment, Carver served on FACT’s Editorial and Planning Committee.
  • Ian Danielsen was appointed by Virginia House Speaker Don Scott and is an associate professor of social work at Longwood University, where he has taught since 2016. With more than two decades of experience in juvenile justice, child advocacy and legislative engagement, he has led initiatives to strengthen multidisciplinary responses to child abuse and expand services for vulnerable youth. Ian’s leadership has been recognized with multiple state and national awards, including honors from the FBI, the Governor of Virginia and the Virginia Office of the Attorney General for his work in victim advocacy.
  • Tiffany Garner was appointed by Virginia House Speaker Scott and is the federal policy advocate for children and health at Futures Without Violence based in Washington, D.C. She works with national partners and coalitions to advocate for funding to support violence prevention programs that focus on healing families impacted by trauma and violence. Garner previously served one four-year term on the FACT Board from 2020-2024 and served on the Executive Committee as secretary.
  • Amy Greear was appointed by Virginia House Speaker Don Scott and serves as the vice president of institutional advancement at Mountain Empire Community College and executive director of the Mountain Empire Community College Foundation. She also contributes her time to several volunteer roles with organizations in Southwest Virginia.
  • Maria Salgado was appointed by Virginia House Speaker Don Scott and is chief of staff to Virginia Del. Paul Krizek, bringing eight years of legislative experience. She has played a key role in advancing policies that protect at-risk communities, from housing stability and wage protections to problem gambling prevention and access to school meals. Salgado also brings deep expertise in the state budget process through her work with the House Appropriations Committee.
