FACT of Virginia has established a direct assistance emergency fund project to support individuals and families served by sexual and domestic violence programs receiving noncompetitive VOCA funding from the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
A budget of $100,000 has been made available for 20 awards of $5,000 to be made for the provision of direct financial support, not otherwise available, of up to $1,000 per household. This support is intended to cover unexpected expenses presented to individuals and families in crisis. This project is intended to provide direct, flexible, emergency, financial assistance for individuals or families. It is intended to “fill in the gaps” of existing support. Therefore, it is not restricted to specific expenses.
